Hello folks,

If you’re reading this, it’s because you’re still here after the first issue, or because you’ve stumbled back in from some corner of the hiperespacio digital. Either way, welcome to this second issue. This time there’s no technical guide. What I bring you is a short story about changes and decisions.

1. “Disconnection”

A few weeks ago I decided to deactivate Instagram and uninstall WhatsApp. Maybe just for a few months, maybe forever. I don’t know. For now I’m communicating through RCS/SMS, a pseudoforgotten technology that surely deserves its own newsletter someday. The point was I needed to cut through the metanoise… to rethink how and with whom I connect, while opening other channels more aligned with what I think I want to build.

2. LP+-LP (Edition 1)

This time the Newsletter is the blog entry on NL+LP (by the way, NL means Newsletter and LP means Landing Page, simple). So we could call it LP+-LP (Edition 1). Originally I thought I’d dedicate this NL to Pi-hole, a piece of software that filters ads across an entire network. In other words: a way to swallow less advertising online and be more generous with our own time. With browsers like Brave you already notice the difference, but Pi-hole takes it to the next level. In the end I didn’t manage to write anything about it on time. So I’ll leave it as a teaser: in 2 months I’ll cover it in detail. Consider this an appetizer.

3. Parenthesis

Part of the reason for this pause is personal. I started a road trip from Madrid to Serbia that didn’t turn out as expected. Everything was going great, but I had to return on a ferry from Genoa. And my dear mother went through a delicate health situation that forced me to stop and stay close. Sometimes life imposes itself.

So here we are: no guide, no tutorial, just a small piece of life shared. The Independencia digital isn’t only about servers and configurations, it’s also about how we choose to communicate, what we leave behind, and what we decide to build going forward.

Si estás leyendo esto es porque sigues ahí después de la primera entrega, o porque has caído de nuevo desde alguna parte del digital hyperspace. Sea como sea, bienvenido/a a este segundo número. Esta vez no hay guía técnica. Lo que traigo es una breve historia sobre cambios y decisiones.

1. “Desconexión”

Hace unas semanas decidí desactivar Instagram y desinstalar WhatsApp. Quizá solo por unos meses, quizá para siempre. No lo sé. De momento me comunico con RCS/SMS, una tecnología pseudolvidada que sin duda se merece su propia newsletter algún día. El punto es que necesitaba cortar con el metaruido… repensar cómo y con quién conecto a la vez que abro otros canales más afines a lo que creo que quiero construir.

2. LP+-LP (Edición 1)

Esta vez la Newsletter es la entrada del blog NL+LP (que, por cierto, NL significa Newsletter y LP Landing Page, simple). Así que podemos llamarla LP+-LP (Edición 1). Originalmente pensaba dedicar esta a Pi-hole, un software que actúa como filtro de anuncios para toda una red. Es decir: un programa para comernos menos publicidad en internet y ser más generosos con nuestro propio tiempo. Ya con navegadores como Brave se nota, pero Pi-hole es el siguiente nivel. Al final no llegué a tiempo para escribir nada al respecto. Así que lo dejo como teaser: en 2 meses hablaré de ello en detalle. Considéralo un aperitivo.

3. Paréntesis

Parte del motivo de esta pausa es personal. Comencé un viaje en coche desde Madrid a Serbia que no salió según lo esperado. Todo estaba siendo fantástico, pero tuve que volver en ferry desde Génova. Pues mi querida madre ha pasado por un momento delicado de salud que me obligó a parar y estar cerca. A veces la vida se impone. Así que aquí estamos: sin guía, ni tutorial, salvo un pequeño cacho de vida compartido.

La digital independence no solo va de servidores y configuraciones, también va de cómo elegimos comunicarnos, de qué dejamos atrás y de qué construimos en adelante.
